I have a solution that will fix all your issues. Upgrade his Linksys router firmware to either Tomato or DD-WRT. I have had the worst luck with the factory firmware on these units. I have upgraded over 20 of them to DD-WRT and they are more reliable and efficient than many of the more expensive wireless routers on the market. They also allow you to setup a fully QOS optimized network, and add many features that are unavailable on any Linksys factory firmware. You won't regret the upgrade.
