Question : Problem: Microsoft, Wireless Laser Keyboard, 6000 v2.0 Stopped Responding

Microsoft, Wireless Laser Keyboard, 6000 v2.0, has a battery indicator that goes dark a few seconds after changing batteries and will not respond. It's about two months old (30 day warranty!). Is there a fix for this?
Addit'l info: The associated mouse continues to function fine, using Windows XP Tablet.
