Question : Problem: BackupExec fails to access directory or file
|
|
Currently running Veritas BackupExec 10.0 5484 w/SP6 on a W2K3 File Server. I can backup shadow copies on the File Server and also all files on the Exchange Server but unable to backup the file server data. However, this worked on a previous File Server flawlessly; I can only assume it has to do with the file name structure or permissions which the BackupExec Svc account has FC permissions on the drive (D).
I re-installed the remote agent and AOFO but with the same results....currently still validating permissions to ensure this is not the issue. I also verified the files were there by viewing the selections in "text" mode.
At a loss, any help would be appreciated.
BTW: This is a backup to disk solution.

I suggest you install Backup Exec 10.1 SP4. It's a free download. Maybe your File Server has some form of SQL 2005 installed. Even if you're not backing up SQL 2005, you will see this problem. Also if your server is Windows 2003 R2, Backup Exec 10.0 will not support/understand it and may give problems.
See the accepted solution in http://www.experts-exchange.com/Storage/Backup_Restore/Backup_Exec/Q_22577906.html to get more info and get the download location for 10.1. And make sure you push out the agent after you've installed 10.1 SP4 on the media server.
