Question : Problem: How to connect two machines with a crossover cable and cat5/6
|
|
Here's what i want to do. Please tell me if this will work or not.
I have two machines that i need to connect over a crossover cable. i don't want to move the machines and i don't have a crossover cable long enough to reach between them.
I've heard that you can couple a cat 5/6 cable to an crossover and that should work as well. Is that true.
If so, is possible to go from Machine1 to switch to Machine2 with a crossover in there somewhere.
Ultimately, i would like to use my existing backbone with a crossover cable somewhere in the mix.
Anyone know if this would work at all?

If you are using you existing cable in the bldg, use a short crossover cable at the patch panel. this will give you a crossover between the computers.
