Question : Problem: Editing scanned text in Word

I am scanning the complete text of a book that needs a new edition, with my HP scanjet 3970. When I save it in Word, it retains its original zones, which makes it very difficult to edit. All I want is ordinary Word text without the zoning, so that I can (among other things) move text around between pages, delete and close up spaces, etc What do I do?

Every OCR program that I have used has had a choice to bring the text in with formatting ( wich is what it sounds like you have) or without formatting.  The program that came with my hp 6300c has a choice of "editable unformatted text".  When this setting is checked, you get just a regular .txt file, no font size, no font recognition, just a plain text file.  I have another program at work that has a slightly different name for this but does exactly the same thing.

Check thru the settings on your OCR program or search the help index for something like formatted text.

Hope this helps, let me know what you find.
