HP Scanjet Scanners - Installing the HP Scanning Software

This document explains the steps necessary to install the HP Scanning software from the installation CD or from downloaded software when available.

NOTE: Do not plug the scanner into the computer using any connectivity cable until after the scanning software is installed.

Installing the HP Scanning software  

Installing the software from the installation CD before installing the hardware
Quit all open applications (except Windows).
Insert the CD-ROM. If the installation program does not start automatically, open the Windows Start menu, click Run, and then type D:\setup.exe (where D is your CD-ROM drive).
Follow the onscreen instructions.
After the scanning software installation is complete, click Finish.
Click Yes on any prompts asking to restart.
