Question : Problem: USB Keyboard not working with XP SP2
|
|
I just reinstalled Windows XP SP2 for a client, using my PS2 keyboard and Mouse.
The modtherboard is a Desktop Board IntelĀ® D865GVHZ.
My client called me saying that neither the keyboard nor the mouse work, both of them USB.
I used the ports with pen drives and worked fine.
What can I do to solve his problem?
Thanks in advance,

Ok - one thing you can do to solve his problem is get the USB - PS/2 adapters:

As to what the problem IS - there's a variety of things - some of them very specific to machine hardware (like this ticket from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948101 related to a nVidia 680i motherboard).
Others have reported problems with USB ports set to operate at version 2.0, but keyboards/mice not working with that version of the ports...
Unfortunately - it could take you quite a while to determine the actual cause and solution - the adapters are probably your most economical bet - considering time value..
