Question : Problem: Getting into settings of Bios

Hi,
I've searched on the forum for my problem. however none of the items helped me. I have a HP Pavilion DV9690. I'm trying to get into the settings side of the BIOS. When you press F1 or ESC you only get the main page showing the system info or diagnostic menus. Any idea what one needs to press to get to the section that you can change?
