Question : Problem: Win XP: Can't Renew IP Address (ipconfig /renew)

Dear experts:

I have a problem with a couple of stations in my office.
They had virtual static IP addresses, which I used the address reservation function at win 2003 DHCP server.

Today I found that the workstations had IP address different from what I reserved for them: Different network addresses.

Their current addresses are
xxx.xxx. 70.1,
xxx.xxx.70.2
Their normal addresses were:
xxx.xxx.114.15
xxx.xxx.114.16

Using ipconfig /release, I released. Then using ipconfig /renew, I renewed. Still the strange address were renewed.

What is the solution with this nagging problem?

Thanks a lot!

Is it possible that someone connected an other DCHP server on your network. Happened to be a little while ago, someone had brought a nice media center applicance at work and plugged it in the network. Network was weird for a couple hours until i discovered that the ip range was messed up.

do an ipconfig -all see what the DHCPserver adress is...
