Question : Problem: Can't get integrated OR PCI sound card to work on Dell 2350

I have a Dell Dimension 2350.  I recently did a clean re-install of Windows XP Home, have all of the Windows updates installed, have AVG anti-virus, and other than that it's clean.  

I easily found the driver on the Dell website, but every time I try to install it it goes through the installation process and at the end it tells me that the drivers aren't working.

This integrated soundcard worked fine before the Windows re-install.  Nonetheless, I took a Turtle Beach soundcard from another Dell machine I have (and that soundcard works fine), disabled the integrated soundcard thru the bios, and installed the Turtle beach card and drivers.  Again, after going thru the install, the turtle beach diagnostic tool runs a test and says the hardware is working but the drivers aren't.  

When I go to control panel sound options, it says no audio device.  there is no sound icon in my system tray.  There is no soundcard listed in the device manager.  

Any suggestions?

Have you installed all the drivers? Chipset Drivers?
