Question : Problem: new headset won't work with audacity
|
|
i just got a logitech extreme gamers headset. i haven't tried it with any games yet, but i did try simply using the boom microphone to record my voice using audacity. with just the microphone jack in, audacity didn't recognize the input source at all, even after i changed the input source in preferences. the select source box in the same bar as microphone volume isn't working, either.
with both the microphone jack and the headphone jack plugged in, i got building static/noise when i tried to record.
my machine uses the realtek hd audio system.

Hi since I am big user of Audacity, You have several choices to record in Audacity. The Mixer Toolbar has three controls, used to set the volume levels of your audio device and choose the input source http://audacity.sourceforge.net/onlinehelp-1.2/toolbar_mixer.htm Recording With Audacity http://www.clarkandsandy.com/DanceMaster/Audacity_Tutorial.htm
Since you have your mic connected to the line in playback should be auto out of the speakers. just set Audacity to use stereo Mix then it records what you hear ( ie in the speakers ), just turn your speakers volume off and listen to what you record in Aduacity live direct feed.
i'm getting an echo in the recording sometimes << that's because your mic is listening to what's coming out of your speakers. Turn your speakers off or move away from them.
Hope it helps Cheers
