Question : Problem: Locking a computer with a Hard Drive Bios password

I have a system that I need to lock access at the hard drive level.  In no way do I mean a bios/cmos password on the motherboard.

The computer is going to be physically accessible so simply locking the bios is not an option I need to be able to set a hard drive password on it to prevent unauthorized access.

Has anyone done this before with hardware that could be at least 4 years old?

If this requires special motherboard/hard drive combo what would you recommend?
