Question : Problem: No Unused media available when performing backup

Dear experts,

We are using NTBackup to backup our files daily. REcently we had a server failure and upon getting it back online, we reinstalled the tape drive and since then we are having problem with backup.

Knowing the schedule job don't run, I tried to perform a manual backup but it gave an error message of "No Unused Media Available.......". I went to Computer Management and found out that there is no media under Removable Storage\Media Pools.

So my question is that is it possible to reset all the "media" information on the backup tape (or a way to erase the tape so that we can reuse the tape again)? I am trying to get hold of some new tapes but it won't be here until the weekend and I don't want to not backing up tonight and tomorrow.

Thank You in advance.

Answer : Problem: No Unused media available when performing backup

ntbackup /nopoll
This parameter is used only with no other parameters and tells the ntbackup utility to erase the tape.
