Question : Problem: Why does my Dell PowerEdge 2600 server show both 2.4GHz processors at 1.8GHz?
I rcently moved two xeon 2.4GHz processors (and associated voltage regulator modules) from one PowerEdge 2600 to another.
The server recognizes both processors as 2.4GHz processors, but the BIOS (and subsequently, the operating system, ESX v3.5) show the clock speed at 1.8GHz.
What up with that, folks?

The other 2.4 probably has a 400Mhz fsb with a 6 multiplier. If you want to run them at full capacity then yes you'll need to move them back.
