Question : Problem: microphone buzz

While using a voice chat program, the person I communicate with hears a buzzing or humming sound.  If I record my voice on the windows sound recorder, I do not hear this sound.  The only thing I hear in my room is the normal sounds from my computer (the faint hum of the fan for the most part).  Is there some other thing I can look for to solve this?  I've tried both usb desk microphone and many mics that go right into the sound card.

cHANCES ARE THAT YOUR MIC IS TO CLOSE TO YOUR SPEAKERS AND OR COMPUTER, IT'S PICKING UP INTERFERENCE FROM EITHER. Lapel or head set mics normally do not suffer this problem.
