Question : Problem: UPS beeping and battery end-of-life ?
|
|
Hi,
One of the users in a remote country tells me that their UPS (SmartUPS 700) is beeping once in every +/- 3 houres and there is red light burning that indicates that the battery should be replaced. The battery also indicates that it's fully recharged?
What seems strange is that it is fully recharged, why should it be replaced ?
Should the battery really be replaced and if so, is it easy enough to do for non-technical people to do it by themselves ?
Thanks in advace for your answers,

Typically this is due to a failure in the battery. Although it's indicating it's fully charged, it may not be holding the charge long enough (needs to be recharged constantly).
It's a possibility there's an issue in the control board, but the vast majority of the time replacing the battery will resolve your issue.
The battery is easy enough to replace. A few screws and the two leads. The replacement batteries usually come with instructions. If not, just take the casing off and it's pretty self-explanatory from there.
