Question : Problem: Usng USB Port will freeze computer
Recently my fan overheated and caused my hard drive to fail. I added a new hard drive and plugged in a flash drive into a USB port which made the onboard internet connection fail. Recently I plugged a flash drive into the ports and it will not read them, as it seems to bring up the explorer window and then freeze the computer until I unplug them. Is there a way to completely uninstall the drivers for the USB ports and reinstall to see if it's hardware?
If it is the usb hardware that was also affected is there a pci card that I can purchase for the usb ports?
Answer : Problem: Usng USB Port will freeze computer
Can you uninstall? Yes. In device manager, expend the section Universal Serial Bus Controllers and delete everything within. Reboot, all will reinstall. If you have a corrupt driver issue, this will rectify it.
