Question : Problem: Guideline for memory requirements for 1280x1024 display.
Hi does anyone know the guideline for sizing graphics card memory requirements for Win XP Pro, dispaying onto 1280x1024 32bit color LCD? This is for normal office use, 4 LCD monitors per PC, running MS Office 2003, Outlook, Word, Excel, IE7, Bloomberg, Norton AV and of course youtube and other multimedia apps (itunes, media player).
Thanks
Answer : Problem: Guideline for memory requirements for 1280x1024 display.
Video Memory in MB = [(X-Resolution) x (Y-Resolution) x (Bits-Per-Pixel)] / [8 x 1,048,576]
1280x1024 at 32bit works out to 5Mb.
Anything over that is for 3D which you apparently don't use.
