Question : Problem: Getting your cell phone to check emails on an exchange 2003 server
|
|
I have a few cell phones that I have to configure to check email from an exchange 2003 server. How can I go about doing this, is there something special to install on the exchange server, and is there something that also needs to be installed on the cell phones. The models of the cell phones are Motorola V600, Motorola RAZR V3i, and the Samsung U600.

Hello, Based on the model phones you provided, you don't seem to be running a windows mobile platform and would not be using OMA or mobile Outlook. Your active sync or other supplied sync software as in the case of your Samsung U600 will sync your contacts and calendar as prev. stated. However it looks like that will also allow you to load small word or excel documents to that phone.
Some desktop sync software will allow you to sync email as well, but this ONLY puts new email on your phone when it's physically connected to the PC that receives the email and syncs to the phone.
in order to receive email wirelessly you should configure your phone to receive POP3 email (again as already stated.) this shouldn't require much if any configuration of your email server... and there's millions of pages on how to configure pop3 email for any type of server available via Google.
The only real concern you would have about exchange configurations would be if you were trying to configure OMA to work with a PDA phone running a Windows Mobile platform (like the Blackjack I or II for instance. or a Palm Treo, (and good luck to any who try a Palm PDA.)
