Question : Problem: Veritas Backup Exec. Restore Question.

I have a Backupexec job that I would like to restore only specific pieces of. In specific I would like to restore the registry, however I don't want to overwrite my existing registry. I would like to be able to restore it to a file and pull out just the entrys I need.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Install a parallel copy of windows into a seperate folder \winnt1 rather than the original \winnt. Reboot to this new copy, restore registry without redirecting it, run regedit and export whatever bits of the registry you want to a .reg file, reboot and select the original installation during boot and import the bits of the reg you previously exported. Edit boot.ini so that it doesn't keep booting the parallel copy. Delete the \winnt1 folder if you want to free up space but it can be pretty useful to keep it for future emergency repairs.
