Question : Problem: Mac constantly crashes after power failure.

Hello:

The electricity just flickered in my office and my Mac G4-500 shut off unexpectedly.  Now, the computer reboots but consistantly freezes when I try to run programs.  The screen goes black, telling me to press the power button to force shut down.  I am running Tiger.

How do I proceed?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Answer : Problem: Mac constantly crashes after power failure.

Try safe booting by booting while holding down the shift key. This will force an attempt to repair any disk directory damage. Once booted, open Disk Utility (found in the \applications\utilities folder) and run Verify Disk. If it shows any uncorrected errors, let us know.
