Question : Problem: Red LCD on Dell laptop

Dell Insprion 3200 laptop initially strted to get dim, I checked all LCD connections and the brightness returned, but the LCD now has a red tint background. Resolution and other LCD functions seem normal.
Can hook up to monitor and screen is normal coloration and normal brightness.
Could the "red screen" problem be in the inverter? Inside the LCD cover the inverter connects directly to flourscent bulbs with 2 wires.
If inverter, can these be replaced?
Dell doesn't seem interested in anything except changing out the whole LCD.
Has been a great laptop, would be great to have it back to full use.
Any asisstance ort direct will be appreciated.
