Question : Problem: Mac & Windows Dual Boot Help!?
Hello! I have a 1st gen Macbook and it has 2 boot partitions, 1 is Mac and 1 is Windows. I am trying to reinstall the Windows section and have reformatted the partition and the Windows install does the "setup is copying files" and then restarts but the machine just restarts straight in to Mac. On a normal PC it would restart and then continue the install.
When I try to boot from the Windows HDD after pressing ALT it just says the following: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file."
Does anyone know what to do to fix it? Thanks in advance!
Answer : Problem: Mac & Windows Dual Boot Help!?
boot back into the mac side and use bootcamp assistant to set it back to a single os/partition then rerun bootcamp assistant to for windows. this should reprovision, if you will, the partition and system to for xp to install and run normally.
