Question : Problem: Dell Latitude D620 low speaker volume

I have a Dell Latitude D620 and the speaker volume is very low. I've increased all the volume levels on the volume control ( main, wav, CD, etc.) checked the volume control on the laptop itself, loaded the latest sound drivers, flushed the cache (removed power and battery, held down power button for 30 seconds). I've looked at all the sound setting properties and codec setting properties that I can think of to no avail.

Boot to either the utility partition or drivers and utilities cd and run a diagnostic on the sound and see if the volume is low during diags, if not then it in the software. If the volume is still low in diags attach speakers or headphones and re-run the diags if the sounds is still low then it's a sound card problem, if it sounds fine then the speakers are dying.
