Question : Problem: eMachine not POSTing
|
|
I am working on an eMachine that refuses to POST. Originally, I disconnected all the peripherals and memory (pulled cards, pulled all drives and memory) and there was still no attempt to POST. I replaced the motherboard to the same result. The lights go on as if it is starting up, the optical drive seems to whir (I can feel it through the top of the case), but there is nothing else that happens.
Any thoughts, or should I simply instruct the owner to cut losses and start again with a new machine?

That will be my advise, plus make sure all the other coponents work. Usually, when this happens, it might even be the graphics card only, the RAM or the processor it self. You might also want to have a look at the bios. These are the core components for a machine to work. If all of them are ok, then it could be the motherboard. Let us know
Good luck
