Question : Problem: Dell monitor stuck in standby mode

I attached my monitor to another machine trying to fix a friend of mine's machine. The machine booted up and it went as far as the desktop the it juss went out. No power in the PC. I tried to turn it on, the lights on the CPU lit up but the monitor light stayed amber. I shut down the machine by pressing on the power button for 5 seconds and tried to power it up again but nothing from the monitor still. I pressed one of the buttons on the monitor and it showed the message "Monitor in standby mode, press any key on keyboard or move mouse". That doesnt work. I get the same result if i hook it up to another machine. I even tried hooking it up to my laptop. What do i do to bring it out of standby mode???

Answer : Problem: Dell monitor stuck in standby mode

Have you tried pushing the source button to change it from AUTO to DVI or Analog? You to press it several times to switch between each mode. This will manually find the active signal source rather than let it find it by itself. I deal with this issue all day. Rebooting while the monitor is plugged in is also another suggestion. Hot swapping with older Dell LCD's does not work. It has to already be connected before you reboot. Good luck!!
