Question : Problem: Windows 2003 Server, 2 NICs, 2 Gateways

I've investigated this for awhile, and found little to no good clear answers.  Many answers said "buy cisco", or something along those lines.  It dosn't seem that it's that big of an issue, but aparently it is.

My Setup:
Webserver (Win2k3) - NIC1 (192.168.1.50), NIC2 (192.168.1.51)
Router #1 - Sonicwall - 192.168.1.1
Router #2 - Cisco PIX - 192.168.1.2

Currently, I have all my hosting running thru Router 1.  I'd like to have some of the services/websites running off Router 2, but I can't because of the one default gateway rule.

I'm not a huge routing person, and I don't understand why I can't install 2 NIC's with two different gateways.  In my mind, it seems simple that if a request for a page comes in and hit's ip 1.51, to respond via that NIC.  If something comes in to 1.50, respond via that NIC.  I don't get why that won't work.  Am I missing something?

The issue, I think, has more to do w/ two nics and default gateways residing on the same network.  Could you try this:

Put router one on 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0
Put router two on 192.168.2.1 / 255.255.255.0

Put nic1 on 192.168.1.50 / 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1
put nic2 on 1921.68.2.51 / 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.2.1

See if that works the way you want to .
