Question : Problem: nic teaming for smart load balancing

I have teamed the 2 onboard intel pro 1000 mt nics on my dell poweredge 2850 and want to use them for smart load balancing. When I run a test switch configuration on the team I receive the following.

Problem:
Possible Team and switch configuration mismatch
Possible causes:
STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) is enabled on the network. With STP enabled, the amount of time required to connect or reconnect to the switch depends on the STP configuration.
Posible solutions:
Disable STP on the switch.

I do not want to disable stp on my switch due to having redundant fiber links to my idf's. The switch my server is connected to is a catalyst 4507 with 1 48 port fast ethernet module, 1 24 port gigabit ethernet module, and 4 6 port gigabit fiber modules.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem?

Answer : Problem: nic teaming for smart load balancing

Just do "spanning-tree portfast" on the interfaces. Your diags may still see spanning tree enabled but it won't affect performance.

See the bottom of http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX434260, it applies even if not using Citrix, or HP.
