Question : Problem: Can't Get Wired Network Connection Working on IBM R50e

I just did a full wipe & reinstall on a ThinkPad R50e laptop running Win XP Pro. Everything went fine with the reinstall, except that my wired network connection is not working. The driver is properly installed. However, even with my ethernet cable plugged in, the network indicator on the system tray says "Network cable unplugged."

As an experiment, I booted w/ a Knoppix LInux CD and then the wired connection works fine, so this leads me to conclude that it is simply a Windows driver issue, I think? However, in Win XP the device manager does not indicate any problem w/ the driver. I downloaded the latest drivers from IBM website.

The built-in wireless is working flawlessly FYI. But I absolutely need it to work with a wired connection.

Thanks in advance!

Answer : Problem: Can't Get Wired Network Connection Working on IBM R50e

Sorry,

The above Network Card Driver link is old.  Here's the latest, which you probably already know:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62922

But first, before installing this, install the Lenovo System Interface Driver.  Then, when you install the network driver, be sure to say yes when it asks if you want to install the Intel Proset Utility.

Good Luck,
