Question : Problem: IDR for SBS 2003

I am currently running Backup Exec 11d on a SBS2003 server. I run one backup to a tape and the other to a NAS hdd. I've run the IDR wizard and created both a bootable and non-bootable version for the IDR. I'm concerned that our backups aren't running properly and want to test the IDR to see if it works. All I have are spare PC's and no servers to test it on. Is there anyway I can tell that our IDR is going to work with our NAS drive? Or anyway to test the IDR period?

Answer : Problem: IDR for SBS 2003

If you're server is running a RAID 1 you could remove one of the disk sets, run the IDR test on the second set and then boot back to the first set and rebuild the RAID onto the first set. Just make sure you're very familiar with the options of the RAID BIOS.

If you don't have RAID1, to test if IDR works with the NAS, you can try & restore to a client PC. The IDR process may work, but the PC probably won't boot after IDR though.
