Question : Problem: UPS battery replacement and redundant power supplies on server
We have an IBM x series 226 server with redundant power supplies. Both power supply LED's show they are both on and working. Both power cords from the server are plugged into the same UPC. The LED's on the UPS indicate it's time to replace the battery. Is there any reason I couldn't just move the power cords one at time from the UPS to an a/c wall outlet so I can take down the UPS without shutting down the server?
Answer : Problem: UPS battery replacement and redundant power supplies on server
Those supplies on that model server are hot swappable so absolutely, you will be able to move one power supply to AC, then move the other. As long as one supply is powered at all times you will not have an issue.
Thanks,
Nic
