Question : Problem: Flash media transfer speeds: Drive size matter?

I have two SDHC cards described below.

a) AData Class 6 16GB SDHC
b) Kingston Class 4 4GB SDHC

Data transfers were done while both drives are newly formatted. Transfered one 1GB file.

My 16GB card is Class 6 which should see 6MB speeds during file transfer and it does but my 4GB card (which is supposed to transfer around 4MBps) actually transfers data at an average of 11MBps.

I guess I cant complain about the 16GB card because its performing at its rated speed but can anyone explain why the class 4 card is so much faster? Since its flash media, does the size of the drives make any difference in transfer speeds?

Answer : Problem: Flash media transfer speeds: Drive size matter?

No the size should not make any difference.  The class 6 should be faster than a class 4.  Class 6 has a large options of speed that it can run at, but it should still be faster than class 4.  However, they do just refer to the minimum transfer rate, so you could rate a really fast card as class 4, although it wouldnt make sense.

you can see some info about the speeds at:

I would look for reviews on your specific cards and see what others found
