Question : Problem: PC boots up to 'no display' / orange light on a reboot

A friend has asked me to fix his PC. When I firdst got it, it would not turn on. I tried my PSU and it worked, so bought a new PSU.

So I installed the PSU, turned it on, excellent, all working. Rebooted the PC and just before the bios screen, monitor light goes orange (from green) and it tells me 'no display'. If I turn the PC off and back on, again 'no display' with the orange light. Turn the electric wall socket off, back on and the PC starts and the monitor loads Windows, this is pretty strange.

I've swapped the graphics card for a spare one I had and got the same problem.

Anyone suggest something?

Thanks,
DJ

Answer : Problem: PC boots up to 'no display' / orange light on a reboot

1) It could be a monitor issue, check the pins on the VGA cord, make sure none are pushed in or broken.
2) Disable all monitor power down options on the monitor itself, in the BIOS and in the control panel.
3) There could be motherboard damage from when the PSU died.

I hope this helps !
