Question : Problem: CISCO NEWBIE

Recently I just obtained a Cisco 2950 switch to have a bit of a fiddle with. Currently this switch is sitting on the home network with a few PC's and a modem connected to it along with a SPA-3000 for voip. I have had limited experience with the config side Cisco Switch but I have managed to get an IP address on it on the switch. Other than that there is no other configuration on it.
My goal is to have all PC's utalizing the network and the ADSL 2 internet connection. At present the PC's are able to connect to the internet but the only problem is its S L O W !!!!!!!. When trying to access the internet. I am able to get a DHCP address from the modem through the switch.
Any help would be appreciated.
