Question : Problem: New Seagate Travan 20gb Tape drive not backing up
This is a brand new tape drive that I've installed into a server. I also loaded the backup software that came with it, Tapeware XE by Yosimite. Both the nt backup and tapeware have similar errors. Tapeware give an unexpected bus free error, error #333. NT backup says something to the effect of an operation timed out. I've done all the troubleshooting steps listed on yosimite's website, and nothing does the trick. I've also loaded the newest aspi drivers just for kicks, nothing. This is on a Windows Small Business Server 2003. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Also, it will rewind/retention the tape, just won't actually perform the backup.
Tape drive is a Seagate/Certance Travan 10/20gb.
Answer : Problem: New Seagate Travan 20gb Tape drive not backing up
It is starting to sound like there might be a problem with the drive.
At this point it might be a good idea to install it into a plan old desktop system just to see if it works there.
