Question : Problem: Windows XP Driver for Vista Ultimate Remote Control

I bought a Vista upgrade remote control for Vista.  Is there any way I can use this device on XP Pro ?  I have a seldom-used Compaq which shipped with XP 2005 Media Center, and, of course, our "friends" from Redmond do not sell, nor would I buy, this system on anything but (semi) new PCs.

I haven't even tried the device on Vista, as this is a desktop where Vista is incompatable with hardware, software etc: standard MS BS.  Dual boot XP SP2 with Vista Ulimtate.  I have a Creative X-fi remote (Extreme Music), but their software is notoriously buggy, & they don't support, nor do I think they will ever, a Vista driver for this device (stupidly designed to boot).  Basically the whole sound system controls is a mess, & if somehow this device can be made to also run on XP (primarily for volume control), hopefully this may get better results.  Again, I have a semi-senseless OEM veriosn of XP Media Center (no special media components shipped with this admittedly cheap computer) on the Compaq, but don't know if I can install a needed driver to make the remote functional when running XP.

Assuming there is a work-around, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't know if you had already seen it but take a look at: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=Vista&message.id=10201 on this remote and updated drivers.  As far as the Vista/XP part of your question, see this 1st: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/mcepowertoys.mspx and then this 2nd: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/chats/transcripts/06_0921_ez_xpmedia.mspx   Let me know if this helps you.
