Question : Problem: What's the best Intel CPU I can upgrade to for this motherboard?

Hiya
I've got an Asus P5LD2-VM DH motherboard (http://tinyurl.com/2deu6t) with a crappy Pentium 4 processer that needs upgrading. However, I'm very new at this and need advice as to what chip I can upgrade to. I found this site http://tinyurl.com/23v88a which lists out all the possible CPU's I can upgrade to. However this list says that I can only max out the motherboard to an Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz. I'm confused as I thought that considering that the motherboard uses an LGA775 socket that I can use any Intel chip that can fit in. Does the Front Side Bus Speed make a difference to what chip I can choose? The FSBS is 1066mhz. Surely I can purchase the latest Intel Core 2 Quod chip which can fit an LGA775 and has an FSBS of 1066mhz and that should work?
Please help - I'm very confused and don't want to fork out cash for a new chip for it not to work
Thanks in advance

The E6700 processor is supported with this board. The BIOS version for the E6700 is 0501. You can confirm this on the POST screen. Look for the word BIOS Revision and ensure the 0501 follows after that.
