Question : Problem: Adding a second video card to the onboard one

Hi Folks

I have a dell dimension 4700. It has the video card "Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family".

I bought another video card and plopped it in.. http://www.dabs4work.com/productview.aspx?QuickLinx=499Q

Now it works with one monitor attached to the new card, but when I attach a monitor to the onboard video, it gives me this error on reboot:

"This computer has an add-in graphics card, but the monitor is plugged into the integrated video card" then "System Halted" ... not much on google about that (a few, nothing helpful)

I tried updating the BIOS from A05 to A10. Didn't help. I tried upgrading the driver but intels latest doesn't support vista which this pc is running.

Any ideas how I can get the onboard and the new graphics card working together to have two monitors ?

thanks

It's most likely not going to work i have yet to see an onboard intel card play nicely or at all with an add-in card. You just got lucky with the 5100.Also the video card you bought will support dual monitors on its own, 1 vga and 1 dvi or 2 vga with the dvi to vga adapter.
