Question : Problem: Compaq Presario Laptop sound issues.

Issue with sound on Compaq Presario V6000. Running windows XP, newest sound drivers. Especially while playing videos, the sound gets full of static, When the noise starts, the video also slows down. The issue also occurs without video being played when in Itunes. Laptop has a gig of ram, but only 550 is in use. Problem is intermittent, and volume level does not seem to affect the issue. Problem occurs when using headphones as well as speakers. Restarts also do not appear to be helping the issue.

Try remove in device manager and restart system, the let windows automatically detects it and install driver.
