Question : Problem: Using a JVC CU-VD10U dvd burner, keep getting formatting failed error message

Using a JVC Everio Sharestation DVD burner to burn DVD's from recordings on our JVC Everio MG 37U camcorder we keep getting errors. It will burn a disc and then have 3 or 4 dvd's that fail. The error message says formatting failed. We have tried Maxell, Sony and Memorex brand DVD's.

In that case, I'd say there's an issue with the burner itself.   You've clearly tried enough different brands of media -- and Taiyo-Yuden is as good as it gets, so it's almost certainly not a media issue.  

I did note that there are a lot of posts r.e. media issues with the Everio Sharestation -- hopefully JVC is aware of this and will issue a firmware update.

... just for grins, have you tried using DVD+R media?
