Question : Problem: CD Writing or reading failing
|
|
I have a W2K Pro setup (Sp4) and have been experiencing the following message:
Event 116 - RSM could not identify the media in drive Drive 0 of library SONY CD-RW CRX230E
I have just replaced the CD-R, as I had this problem for sometime, I thought it was the new generation of CD media? but I still have this problem? This problem occurs with either writing or reading only.
Another related message found in the event viewer is Event 1001 - The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007f (0x00000008, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195].

Hi Senrabi,
0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.php#0x7f
What microsoft has to say about this error: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/reskit/prmd_stp_ukdq.asp
One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common cause (many dozen KB articles exist for this error referencing specific hardware failures) and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.
General Causes {KB 137539} http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=137539
Greetings,
LucF
