Question : Problem: Serial to PS2 mouse?

I've a logitech first mouse serial port.  I've a PS2 port and will like to use it for mouse.

I bought a serial to PS2 converter and connected my serial com port mouse to the PS2 port.  It didn't work.  I used another 100% PS2 mouse and it works....

Does it mean, serial mouse cannot be converted to PS2?

A normal "serial" mouse cannot be hooked to an adapter to work in a PS2 port or visa verse, most of the combo mice you see on the market has a switch on the bottom to switch between the two modes.
