Question : Problem: Play a movie from laptop to TV

Here's my problem:
- When I play a movie on my laptop it appears in black & white on my TV screen. Also, I can view mpeg files alright, but avi files appear as just a black area where the video should be.

Points to note:
- I have connected my laptop to my TV using a s-video cable (is that what it's called?).
- When I originally bought my laptop, the person said I had the relevant hardware to play movies from my laptop to the TV.
- In Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced, I set the "TV" as primary and "LCD" as secondary.
- My graphics card is "SiS 650".
- My laptop was bought in Europe (and I live there). My TV was also bought in Europe. I think that means it's PAL, and not NTSC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think svideo that is used for say, connecting a DVD-player to the TV is different from what your laptop has possibly...?

That seems to indicate that the 4 pin cable will work OK..but now I find this:

I think that last link identifies the problem, the fact tha you have a 7pin s-video out plug and the SCART adapter you bought doesn't work properly with it.
