Question : Problem: How do you change SQL pointer for BAckup Exec

Hey experts,

Im installing a new SBS2003 server w/ Backup Exec 11d.  I orginally configured backup exec before I brought the server onsite to install.  When I attempted to install, I realized that my servername name had the same servername as another appliance on the network, and I was forced to rename the server.

Backup Exec is still looking for the SQL on the "oldservername"  Obviously, the "oldservenamer" does not exist anymore.

I cannot uninstall the product, says I have to dismount it from the SQL on server "oldservername", and I cannot for the life of me figure out how I can either unistall/reinstall or point the current version of Backup Exec to correct new "servername"

Help appreciated.

Answer : Problem: How do you change SQL pointer for BAckup Exec

You can use beutilty.exe to let Backup Exec know about the new servername. More details on http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/277063.htm. This works for both Backup Exec 10 & 11.
