Question : Problem: can I use pc2700 in place of pc2100

My specs are emachine w 2047, chipset via km 266,128mb ddr pc2100, 40 gig hd, s3 video savage 8 integrated, 10/100 integrated ethernet,. My questiion is can I use pc2700 memory. My memory died. I tested it in other machines and it didn't work. I tried a friends pc2100 in my pc and it did work. I have some pc 2700 but don't want to try it with out some info from Experts Exchange.  Thanks for you help and time.   Ed

               Worst scenario is not booting, no POST screen, beep sounds from MB speaker. Wont smoke the mobo unless you success to plug the RAM in wrong way, which is impossible that notch wont allow :)
