Question : Problem: Actiontec MI424WR and WPA
|
|
I now have FIOS and the Actiontec MI424WR router, running wirelessly to my Mac G5 tower with OS10.4.8; I understand the MI424WR can be set up for WPA security, but I do not know how to do that. If it is possible, can someone walk me through the steps to set this up? Many thanks,
Rich

Hello iwaski,
Login to your routers control panel and when the "Home" Screen loads click on "Wireless Setup".
The Wireless Setup screen then loads, at the very bottom of the screen click the button labeled "Advanced"
When the Advanced Wireless Settings screen loads scroll down to where it says "Advanced Wireless Options" Just below that is a section labeled "Wireless Security"
Change the option labeled "Stations Security Type" to WPA. Make sure that the authentication method is set to "Pre-shared key". Enter your wpa key, and select whether to use TKIP or AES.
Then click "Ok" at the bottom of the screen to save the changes.
