Question : Problem: I am trying to install W2K3E on an IDE drive but the BIOS only reads and only allows access to the three SCSI drives.

We have a Compaq/HP ML 350 G2 Server.  It came with three 36.4 GB 10k SCSI drives.  I have added an IDE drive to the computer and am trying to install the OS on the IDE drive.

Could someone explain to me the procedure to force the computer to boot from the IDE drive?

I have tried to update the firmware.
I have tried to change the boot order.
I have tried to disable the RAID controller.
I have even gone as far as to physically remove the drives themselves.

Any help would be extremeley appreciated, my boss is losing his patience.

Thank you!

You said you tried to disable the RAID controller... why?  Software RAID is NOT a preferred solution - you WANT hardware RAID.  Forget the IDE drive, create a hardware RAID, then create a partition (10-15 GB) for the C: drive and then install your server.
