Question : Problem: RAID 5 w/ Hotspare

New Client, 2mos of alarm on redhat server.
I opened the raid util w/ ctrl+a and found the hotspare to be dead.
ALT + A for actions remove hotspare
Power down, replace dead drive.
Power up, CTRL + A  can't make thh new drive a hotspare.

So ctrl + R rebuild is available

I rebuild, success, reboot


ouch now i have a redirected drive out of the array but the new drive appears inside the array. All drives show optimal. Can I make the redirected drive my new hotspare?

Answer : Problem: RAID 5 w/ Hotspare

I'd leave it as it is. The drive that is now out of the array should now act as the hot spare.
