Question : Problem: My cpu in laptop failed. AMD 462 Athlon Xp. need help.

I have an HP ZE4600 laptop. Well, the motherboard was shot. So I replaced the board. Now the processor dont work.

ITs an AMD socket A 462, 1.2mhz. My question is, I have a socket A 462 in one of my older systems. (desktop) Can I use that processor? Do I need to do anything different? I mean I know it's not a mobile, just wasnt sure if the processors were compatible.

What is the motherboard in the laptop and what  processor do you want to install in the laptop? Also what's the cpu that was in the laptop? I want to know the #'s on the cpu not what speed they are. they should look something like this "AX2100DMT3C"

Does the older desktop run? Are you sure that the original motherboard was bad...maybe the cpu was the problem to begin with. Can you check the laptop cpu in the desktop?
