Question : Problem: Differential Backup set to a different device

Hello everyone - I posted the following question yesterday and received some very good feedback.  However, when i attempted to run the backup job last night i received the following error:

No appendable media could be mounted.
Error - Mount failed.
Physical Volume Library Media not found.
Any Ideas?

Is it possible to create full backup (to disk - MyBook e sata drive) and have a dailly differential job write to an LTO 3 tape drive?

If so, how does the differential job know if a file has been changed / copied since the full backup if the data resides on a different device.
THANKS

Answer : Problem: Differential Backup set to a different device

That error is indicating that the media in your tape drive has had some sort of append limit set on it in Backup Exec which is preventing any more data being written to it. You can set append limits to stop particular tapes being overwritten before a certain time - if you have set them, then you must ensure the append limit on the tape you are using in the tape drive has elapsed before you use it to run your backup.
